    MEDIA RELEASE

IN MEMORY of :  Greg Currie (Wombat) October 18th, 1959 to July 27th, 2008

The Geelong Harley Owner’s Group (HOG) is inviting all motorcyclists to join in the 2nd annual Wombat’s Wish Memorial Open Run, which benefits bereaved children in Geelong.

“The event is held in memory of the Geelong Harley Owners’ Group sponsoring dealer, Greg ‘Wombat’ Currie,” explains event organiser Brian ‘Pop’ Brownett. “Last year’s Wombat’s Wish Memorial Open Run raised $12,000.00 for Wombat’s Wish, a Geelong based registered charity that assists bereaved children living with grief following the loss of a parent,”, he says “Some of the services provided by Wombat’s Wish include camps and after school care, as well as grief counselling and support for children – the 2009 ride will be held on what would have been his 50th birthday.” Pop adds that Geelong HOG is expecting members to attend from HOG groups from all over Australia, Canada as well as Melbourne and Ballarat. “All motorcyclists are very welcome to attend and all the profits go the Wombat’s Wish charity,” he says. The event includes a Poker Run @ $20 a head, a delicious BBQ lunch @ $5 per person and many great raffle prizes.
“We look forward to welcoming motorcyclists come along and have a great day out while helping us raise funds for Wombat’s Wish,” says Pop.

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the short notice but I've just been told the Around the Bay cycle race thingy is on this weekend and that meeting at the Westgate Bridge would be a big mistake.

So in light of this I'm changing the meeting place for the Melbourne riders to the McDonalds restaurant in Laverton. It's address is 1-9 Lunn Court, Laverton and is easy to find as it's just off the freeway.

It's also only 40 minutes to Geelong from Laverton so we'll meet at the Laverton McDonalds from 8:30am with a leaving time of 9:00am.

The link below will take you to a Google map showing you where Maccas is.

    You blokes,

this was the best ride I've been on for a while.

Hundreds of bikes, very few dickheads and all for a good cause. The ride was brilliantly organised and the moment at the cemetary was enough to move even a tough hearted bastard like me.

The BBQ lunch was ready as we coasted into the Inverleigh (I think) reserve and was excellently prapared with plenty for all.

If this event doesn't clash with anything important next year, make the effort, you'll have a ball.

Even home in time to watch the GP. Onya Casey.
