hi, i'am not too sure on the out put of the late sporty  with slight mods like yours , as the later XL do have up grades parts since the old steel framed buell is no longer , ive heard 70 to 80 HP with a good tune ,  peter down at Robbo's gets good dyno HP results, more so than in Sydney, & he trys hard maybe a good $400 tune-up can help , because with a 1200cc sporty done out with higher comp & heads  etc will only give about 86- 95 max , with the $ spent on your stock heads buy a big bore kit with cams with stock ported heads ,   ive had 115 HP out of a 88ci big bore with  v9 andrews cams 10 to 1 comp stock ported heads  with a stock moded CV carb & this bike was a pussy cat down low & tiger up top just depends were you turn the throttle too & was easy in traffic on a hot day wich  is very important you can spend $ on S/E heads etc & it will still be a 1200 sporty , its harder work but the end result is good  check out Zippers performance or Axtell sales they have been around longer than most & have good results , it depends if you can do the work your self or not because it can $$$,     maybe a real good tune will keep you happy for a while . cheers

hi skull , you dont need the s/e heads if yours is a 1200 the heads are the same just with better springs and shaved 50thou to get better comp..they will bolt onto your motor with s/e pushrods(50 thou shorter)and give you 10.5 to 1 comp. i had to open up the exhaust pocket in the piston for clearnce that was it..
i'd keep your heads put a set of high comp s/e pistons and cams in plus some port work on your heads and then after running it in a good dyno tune..

ps with cams you need to check clearances

skull ,i helped a mate do a 1250 kit this year and its a good kit ..but on its own it wont make much difference to your bike..
it is a good start if you want to add cams because the kit has higher comp pistons(forged too)but if your going to do cams you really want to port your heads, lower your squish band, you need to do valve springs to suit your cams, and you might as well go oversize valves,...........biggest thing is cash$$$$ you'll also need lifters, adj push rods collapsable covers (for the cams)and i added the oil cooler cause she will run hotter!!you'll need at least 1or 2 dyno tunes to get it set up right as well..
ps can you do the labour yourself??

the cheapest option is add high comp pistons + a stg 1/2 port job+a good dynotune..........from 2007 on the sporty's are running slightly better cams that are good to about 6500rpm..
and if you want more after that go the 1250 kit plus cams and you will need a decent set of pipes and you'll be up around 95rwhp!!

If you go the 575 cams you will also need roller rockers.

I have put them in my bike and love them. Also have the 10.5:1 pistons, 1 size up valves, double valve springs and ported the heads myself, 2:1 Kerker exhaust and a Mikuni.

It now pulls 96.5hp and 12.75 secs down the 1/4.

    Very happy with it.
