Gday All
Looking for some feedback on Detachable windshields and their merrit or not.
Looking at some longer rides (on a spinger minimum 4hrs at highway speeds) and wondering if a detchable windshield is woth the investment?
All feedback welcomed, Thanks
Surf
I have one for my Wide Glide and love it on the long trips. A lot can depend on how tall you are and what size screen you get. Best thing to do tho if you can is try and ride a bike with one on to get a feel for it first. I only use mine about twice a year but still worth the investment as far as I'm concerned anyway.
Here is a couple of pics of mine with it on
And this is when it comes in real handy
Have a full size HD quick release on my Fatbob. Love the quick on off. 25 seconds on. 10 off. Makes a big difference on the highway over 80 KPH or so. If going for a long ride i fit it , around town i dont bother. Only thing i dont really like is that the top of the screen is about eye height so i am loking half thru and half over the screen. A ibt like bifocal glasses . Just takes a little getting used to , All in all tho for longer trips it is ideal
Have got a genuine HD detachable, it clicks onto the fork tubes ...on or off in seconds..best of both worlds,
abit of adjustment up and down...I tilted mine back as far as I could go.......had to do a bit of cutting
but it cleaned up real good with a fine flap disc.
I used to look at easyriders in the wind many moons. i'm still not ready for one and my mates that race Top Bike ( v twins ) nitro Harleys , don't use them eather and they get to over 320KPH on a good day. and a Kiwi Top Bike racer has got to 138mph quarter mile here in Aussie, no windscreen. but men have been blown off there top bikes at very high speeds for one reason or another when they let go the handle bards at over 320kph not windscreen.
BUT i'm just stating facts, and i want to keep Australia Free so every one to what they like. i think in the rain or a dust storm it would beat having your face feel like a dart board.
cheers
Have got the HD detatchable for the Fatty, 'cause we can sit on 130km/h up here and it is well worth it.
I sit on 120 - 130 all day (except when I need fuel every 100k's ) wouldn't be without it.
For long fast rides only Wozza, honest...... no gayness intended
Otherwise 10 seconds and it off for the around town day to day stuff. Chalk and cheese IMHO
If you look at it that way mate, catching the bus can be more fun but, you don't get to taste the bugs.
hi Surf,...and everybody else who wants the best screen out there.
There is a new windscreen in Australia now and has been here for 4 years, but new to the general populatiion.
WINDVEST.....if you wants the best for your bike and don't want to have to look thru a monster big screen
check out www.windvest.com or send an email to wickedmasks@hotmail.com
These guys will send you product reveiws and photos of your bike with a windvest on it ....
easy detachable in 30 seconds and NO springs or clamps hanging down your front forks.
These screens are made so you look over them and NOT thru them and you know how bad it is to look thru a screen when it's raining
they also fit 171 different bikes and now fit baggers/ Ultra glides...with various colours and tints.
When riding at 120klm/hr ...it feels like your'e only doing 95klms....so the long ride are wonderful now and you don't get off after a long ride tired and sore.
cheers Bob.
Very Special !
Best British Bike made in my opinion. Mk2A Interstate.
Onya Bob Thanks for that.
Allready spent the Dough, Damn it
RR , I had the same eyelevel problem with my quick attach screen on my fatbob,so I took it to a glass cutter and had it cut down so its below eye level but sill keeps the bugs off my helmet visor and reduces buffet. pete.
