TTS Installation by HD Dealers

I did search for discussions on this topic but could not find any...apologies if my search capabilities are not up to scratch.

I have just bought a 09 RKC and I am planning to get a TTS. Are there any Harley dealers in NSW that are using TTS and will therefore not have any warranty issues with the bike?

    MattinAus,
The TTS will not affect your warranty as you don't leave it on the bike. Even tuners that are left on your bike shouldn't affect warranty. Talk to Scotty he sells the TTS through this site and will provide great support for it unlike most dealers.

    Thanks for the responses.

Assuming that I install a K&N filter and a better exhaust system, and tweat the ECU with a TTS, every time I need to have the bike serviced at HD I would have to reload the original map into the ECU prior to leaving the bike at the stealer? I suppose that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I'm pretty sure that HD would know that I am using a non-HD supported tuner simply because of the after market filter and exhaust but with stock ECU map. But as you say, HD can't prove this.

Scotty, just trying to understand a little more about this. Do the original maps for every year/model combination HD have the same values in the tables? If so, then would HD not notice the changes in the table values once they plug the bike into the Digital Technician, even though the tweaked map has the same number as the original map?

First off, let me say that I can't wait till I can get hold of a TTS to tune my bike. So I am not trying to discredit the TTS or any other tuner on this forum.

However, I'd like to be aware of any potential risks of using any of these products. As you mentioned (and I agree), HD would have to prove that the aftermarket product caused the damage.

Just for argument sake, lets assume that HD CAN figure out via their Digital Technician (or some other convoluted way) that my bikes ECU table values have been changed every time it goes in for a regular service and they record this fact, would this not be proof enough for HD to later void my warranty claim should my engine suffer damage due to a too lean mixture (or caused by taking other parameters to its limits)?

Just trying to figure out whats possible and whats not...its a case of "better the devil you know..."

Skull, I believe the phrase "for argument sake..." means that the point being argued about will not normally occur, so yes probably none of us (besides some HP freak) will set the ECU parameters to its limits (or above if thats possible).

Scotty, thanks for the insight into what HD can (and can't) see via their DT. For what its worth, it does make me more comfortable with using the TTS.

No offence boys but if you change your standard pipes unless they are screamin eagles doesn't most hd warranties try to wriggle out of it and if you do change em you really should put a Thundermax upgrade module in and get rid of your airbox and open it up and put a Arlen Ness Big Sucker on. The Thundermax is not as easy as you think to map unless you have had proper training. But if it does work properly it will adjust automatically to the way you ride for the following month. Just beware alot of shops will sell you pipes but if you dont let it breathe and don't ajust the fuel intake you will be running your bike lean and thus burn out your valves eventually. All the backfiring and popping is an indication. If you want it done properly come and see Dan at Custom Motorcycle Company Shop 2/124 Brisbane Rd Booval-Ipswich 4304 PH: 381259795 cheers

hi skull , how can ford not warranty the new fg utes if there lowered??(they blow tailshaft joints!)i also thought if any after market engine work was not done by a qualified mech/tech that could also void a warranty?...cheers
