Derby cover story

Recently I tried to removed my stock derby cover to install the skull chromie and I had heaps of trouble getting the torx screws undone.  I used a T27 torx socket but the screws were on so tight I stripped two of the screws in trying to get them undone.  I removed the two screws by progressively drilling off the heads, starting with a small drill and working my was up.  I managed to get the cover off without a single scratch to the engine cover which was good. Luckily the new cover came with a set of screws so I replaced all screws and all was good.  My question is, does anyone know of a good source of replacement Allen head screws, I'd love to get rid of the Torx and replace them with dome head allen screws, I've looked at all the usual places, ie Bunnings but they don't have anything like them.

Try Blackwoods or Coventrys. If you have a look in your local yellow pages under fastners you should find someone who will either have or can get you what you want.

The problem with most of the stuff they sell here nowdays is that it is all metric,it is getting harder and harder to find imperial nuts and bolts, never mind finding it with the required T.P.I.

Greg, haven't really had a chance to re-visit this one but I will at some stage. I may try and replace the bolts in one hit when I do my next mod to the bike, maybe a fuel tuner or something?
