A mate of mine with a Fatboy with short shots and se heavy breather was stopped by the cops and defected for the pipes recently. He got a letter telling him to present himself with bike to an inspection place in Albion Park. He put his original pipes on and passed with only 90db detected at 2500rpm. But then was also defected for the Heavy Breather and on the check list was noted as a "pod filter". Whats the go with that as I have one as well and wouldn't have thought it was illegal as it was bought at a HD dealer and a genuine part.?? Is it because it changes the the air/fuel ratio therefore probably doesnt meet the EPA crap? Or is it just because it's not covered?
He told the chap who apparantly rode a Harley too that it was all a waste of time as he was going to put his short shots on when he got back home, inspector said fine bring it back and we'll see what db level they are
They also took photos of the bike for their database and said that fines of up to $35,000 could be enforced for repeat offenders. All sounds a bit ominous.
Exactly, does not meet the EPA crap.
