Funny, I took a front w/w Metzeler to a bloke in western Sydney, handed it over and he said see you at 11.30. Went back at 11.30 and the young bloke in the shop was finishing off, (my bike was close to another bloke who was working on a trailer at the time...using an ANGLE GRINDER near my bike!!!!!!!!) I walked up and said, err that is a front tyre champ. Did'nt the boss man tell you it's a front tyre, look man, the front is bald..He got the shits as I walked out of the workshop to complain to the boss man.. "Sorry, I forgot to tell him". So, I get my bike back at 2.45pm, pay my bill and ride off. Straight away, I feel a vibration...WTF!! I reckon they have'nt balanced the front wheel. Infact, when you remove a tyre from the rim, you're supposed to balance it, so they should have balanced the rear as well. I ride home, angry, swearing I will never take my bike to these guys again. I take it to a dealer, explain the situation, and they balance it for me on the spot, $60 odd. It was 110 grams out!!! It still wobbles a little at low speed but I have two different brands of tyre on, it'll do that. So that is the consequence of buying a tyre "cheap"
I reckon I'll just stick with factory Dunlops via the dealer next time, hopefully it wears out soon..

    Hey Rob,
I was reading in interest about you Tyre issue as i am a big importer of Tyres into australia and nz.

The balance issue shoud never exceed 75 grams. If it does, the tyre is not registerable in australia as the sidewall is out and you will get wobbles once the tread wears down about 2mm.

    Be careful in this issue.

    Cheers,
    mal'

Thanks for the response> I've got another 6000-8000 k's on the rear, and I'll replace both. I'll check tyre pressure weekly, and I'll check regularly for any lumps bumps etc.
Got me worried now, but I find putting 43 psi in the front helps..
