Well i think it would depend on your build and what size motor your going to use TQ cones with, but i don't think they can be used to replace baffles as both do a different job.

TQ cones to me look like they would be restrictive so not as good with big motors. that's an old idea they used with car's ages ago but the way they done it then was not as restrictive as what the TQ cones for harleys are it just try's to stop reversion in the exhast gas with overlap.

there are better way's to do the same thing but it would require custom made pipes and who wants to go to all the trouble, without really knowing what gain the could get. as they say mate, too many trick's and you trick yourself.

    cheers

Your getting some serious bullchit answers here kiwi.

Those cones are designed to do one thing and that's to stop back pressure waves pushing exhaust gases back into the ports...thats all!. They are not replacements for mufflers or baffles or the like. Some argue that the theoretical power they make is negated by the fact that they narrow the exhaust pipe which reduces exhaust gas flow.

I would google them and do more research online. NB: When i swapped over to my 2-2 Supertrapps they came with a set of cones which I installed, so obviously Supertrapp seem to think they are okay to use.

tussuck, i never said they replace baffles if you were refering to me but i have put them in bikes mainly stock twincams with big 2 1/4 pipes with no baffles an have had some good results .the cones need to be tuned by cutting them an opening them up some motors need it some dont .you are correct in wat ya says about stopping the pulse back to the head eg; reversion before retireing to bundy i was a exhaust tech for nearly 30 yrs an have been to hooker headers in the states back in the early 80s an did a 1 month course theree on flow pipe sizes reversion an many other exhaust related things i still build the occassional set but not as many as i used to due to havein a pacemaker docs aready replaced one from me welding lol
some places bag the fuck outta the cones but hey they only want to sell their shit an not other ppls .i had a set in a twin turbod fxr i built in the late 90s an had to cut nearly 1/3=2 an inch off to keep flow but also to stop the flow back into the heads as i had a merge collector i made so gasses would get to both turbos constantly .ive also had badcooky here the other day an spoke to him about his in his nice lil evo .he just put them in but as i said up there ya got to tune em in if you put them off the shelf or outta the packet into a worked motor it will loose a lil bit hp but once tuned an not all dyno guys can tune em you will get good numbers i can remember my son asking about tuned length extractors an as i told him the real tuned length are the onres on top fuellers or pro stock as theyre made on a engine dyno ..the tuned ones you buy these days for cars are pulse tuned
i dont come in here much mainly cause some ppls theroys ect i dont agree with an would rather visit here than live here speak my mind an get booted lol besides its more fun it my shed workin on bikes
hope to see more imput from you as ya post made sense even to an old cunt like me
