Has anyone heard of driver fatigue? Riding to extremes, fast, slow, or for long periods, is both mentally and physically taxing. Eventually you will tire and that's when your judgement will begin to suffer.

For those who may disagree with me take note the next time you go for a decent ride. Note the time you set off then note the time when you find yourself, or another rider, starting to squirm in the saddle or stretch the legs or back while riding. That's the onset of driver fatigue.

I've been a professional driver for 30 years now - I like riding my bike and I want to keep on riding - I like coming home to my family - and now I have a grandson and I'd like to see him grow up and give him a ride on my bike.

    That's about 2 cents worth.

If you are scared to ride quickly then I would be concerned if I were you because you should be confident riding the bike at any speed. I don't mind riding with anyone that is "at least" willing to do the speed limit, although if I'm in the middle of nowhere and the boys in blue aren't around it can get pretty boring at 100km hr. When you get to the twisties that is where (in my opinion) you should be enjoying the handling of the bike. Bikes are made to enjoy cornering and even harleys feel good when you get a corner just right, and you will soon learn the limit to how far a harley can lean. I have never understood why people spend shit loads of money making hogs go fast when they can only do it in a straight line anyway ? Seems like a waste. I"m 48 and I don't feel like I want to go any slower, I just ride to the conditions, if it's a nice road and with lots of corners then why not enjoy yourself ? If you are on the highway going in a straight line then whats the difference if you do a 100km hr or 160km hr, it's boring either way, certainly not scary.

Seems that age is a preoccupation with a lot of people these days......For me...I live for today and tommorow.....nature will tell me when I have reached a cross road, till then I will ride as hard and long as I like within the limits I set.

I ride a Harley cos it's heavy, demanding and fun.....Slow or fast.....It tells me (primary chaincase and muffler scrape) when I have reached the limit....
