Hi I have a 07 Ultra classic and have a problem..I can be riding along and I will loose tacho and speedo and ign. lights come on. Bike will still run fine, and if I stop and turn ign switch off then do a normal restart everything is ok. This may happen once in a ride or I just rode from Melbourne to Sydney and back down the east coast and it happened 3 times. My local HD people changed the ign lock about 12 month ago and that seem to fix it for a while but it has come back. Another ign lock..seems strange.
I would say it has something to do with the ThunderMax, there are a number of threads about them causing the symptoms you describe.
The bike runs fine, just no tacho speedo and ign lights are on. I haven't checked head or tail lights but from memory I have indicators. I just stop and turn the bike off and ign off then do a normal restart.
Sounds like a intermittant short some where. Hard to diagnose, probably need to get a full electrical check done on it and inspect every wire mm by mm.
