My '89 Sporty has fwd controls mounted and the other day the shifter peg slipped when I kicked it into 1st.

I have tightened the peg back up but the spline on the shaft is a bit worn (and possibly the inside of the lever)

Is this shaft a standard size or is it peculiar to the particular fwd controls?

If it is a standard size, can it be bought separate to the whole set up?

Buy some loctite and apply. That will fix the problem if not severley worn.

you could makr provision for a grub screw in the gear lever(drill and tap), aligned with the centre of the spline
if you come from underneath you wouldn't see it, and tightening it would help keep things together
it would still be adjustable as well

and , by the way, it is common for the original gear lever to be used with steel forward control kits(not always though)
