Hi , I have a 2009 XL883 sporty. I was wondering if any body has heard of a way to change the gearing on the final drive so that she isn't screaming her head of at 110kph. May be making the front cog bigger or the rear one smaller. I asked the local Harley dealer and he said NO. But I thought there may be some after market way.
Thanks Smoky.
The 883 is geared for better low end performance, so it does rev high at high speed. A common practice when people do a 1200 upgrade is to change over the engine side sprocket to a larger one, the 883 has a 28 tooth and the 1200 has a 29 tooth from memory. But no reason you can't change your 883 to a 29 tooth if that's what you want.
i often sit on 150k on the missus sporty , NOT ON THE RD and the 07 883 seems to love it
