I have a mate with a 07 dyna who is looking at boring his barrels to 103. No new cams, no head work just SE slipons and SE a/c.

We were both wondering what to expect, wether the stock cams will work better or do we need to put other cams in?

I agree the cams/thinner head gasket should go in but he just cant spring for them at the moment.  The BB is the just cashing in on some warranty work and just wanted to make sure it was not going to be a backward step given everything else is basically stock.

BEST case scenario may well be less power output due to tuning compensations made

if ya not gonna change the cams ya wastin the 103 kit .

if the bike came factory with 103 capacity option for free, who would not grab it?

Surely a 103 would come with a set of cams?  Maybe get the part # and check to see if it's a kit or what ever.

PB, just to clarify - the bike is burning oil due to leaking valve guide seals and warranty will replace seals and hone barrels. He wants to pay the extra while the top end is broken down and BB to 103. Still will have stock cams with new flat tops. We are wondering how the bike will run with the stock cams and whether they will be ok for a while or does he need to put in new cams.

Ok, it will probably run like shit and be under powered, be better if he gets some cams in it.

it will not run like crap
and it will not have less power
it will just not reach it's full potential, but it wll still be a plus
just not as incredible a plus as having a few other extras with it
but if harley made all their new bikes with that exact combination, you would not see anyone trying to reduce the capacity to 96, in the belief that they would gain power
