It"s on again
Annual all bike meet at Townsville Dragway this Sat 22 Aug.
Just opened the nomination and the dog chewed it allready, but I would guess scrutineering 2pm onward lanes open for quallifing and as much practice as you can handle around 3pm and racing at sun down.
5 or 6 bracketts (classes) inc. All Harley.
Boots (rebs are ok), jeans, jacket, gloves (must have fingers) and helmet (open face ok but must wear clear sunnies at night) is all you need until you get fast/look dangerous.
If you havent done it before it can be a bit of fun and to keep it simple for starters - creep up to line till both top and bottom stage lights (white) come on, hold one finger on the brake so you don't roll backward (very common on street HDs), hold a fast (1500) idle, go on the last yellow, take it to the same revs in the same gear every run and enjoy.
SAFETY TIP: for street meets, if you have a choice of lane pick the one away from the exit/return road. This cuts down on the chances of a newbie turning across your bow 10feet after the strike your while still doing 100mph. So in Townsville in the left lane look over your right shoulder and find the other bloke before you turn across his lane, even if you come to stop on the dirt 1k after the line find him before you cut him off.
