Revenue raising will eventually get so bad that it won't be worth riding a motorcycle because all the freedom and enjoyment we get from riding a bike will be suppressed by the fear of rules and regulations. The powers that be want us to believe that they can make motorcycling/driving completely safe for us, but that will never be. There are always going to be young kids testing the boundaries, old folk that can't see with no reflexes, bad road conditions, road rage, etc, etc, etc. As stated by Hilly, I wish they all would just Fuck off because there is no common sense in the way road safety is policed anymore. There are always going to be accidents, even if we all ride with our headlights on and wear dayglo colors (which I won't, I'd sell my bike first) and stay on the speed limit. People will still make mistakes and people will get hurt, it's the risk we all take for the freedom of what we choose to do. Fix the fucking roads before you tell me to wear dayglo colors, and start looking for dangerous drivers instead of fining everyone for doing 10km over the speed limit and treating the general public like they are criminals. Like I've said before on this forum (and will keep saying it) if they really cared about saving lives they would speed limit all new cars to 100km an hour (not that I would want it) but then what would they do for revenue ???? The system is a joke, but very profitable.

Rather than spend gubberment monies (tax payers money) on educating the general public about motorcyclye awareness, it is much easier for the gubberment to say they are taking action by making you the motorcyclist pay for a vest.

tis the way the cookie crumbles. Get used to it

Rules, rules and more f**king rules. My mate was busted last week for having a rear guard that was "apparently" higher than 45 degrees from the rear axle. In fact it wasn't as it was only about 40 degrees and anyway it was an HD standard rear guard on a Rocker. But why let the truth or fact  get in the way of an arsehole cop on the warpath!?

I am getting extremely tired and pissed off with all this crap. Another mate was busted last year for "riding with one hand" as he cruised down the beach strip for a few hundred yards on his old Honda and resting one hand. He copped a $50 fine for it. I was yelled at by a bike-cop a couple of years back for resting my elbow on the window sill of my car at 60kph. No arms allowed outside of the vehicle. What!!!????

It's becoming impossible to do anything without there being a bloody rule against it!

In Victoria when I lived there it was illegal to drive barefoot or in thongs (the foot ones!). Is this still true? Probably.

Perhaps there are a small number of cops who are "overdoing" the regulation thing.  If so, let's name them and make a joint bike community complaint to the top cops. May be a waste of time........ but at least it's an attempt to improve on the crap we are currently copping. We could call it "Dob in a Cop". Sounds good doesn't it!?! Perhaps Kingchops can set up a thread for it! If we do nothing then we just keep copping it!

    I'm serious!

in qld it is legal to ride one handed, law states you must have at least one hand on the controls. coppers around redcliffe qld have been pinging people for riding in thongs or sandals, short sleeve shirts,no gloves,no eye protection. also confiscating helmets because they believe they are illegal, even though most of them are not. police often jump the gun on new laws, booking people even before the offence becomes law. if you get done and believe it is bullshit, fight it in court, most times if it is bullshit the coppers will drop it before it gets to court,if you dont fight it you are just giving the cunts money for nothing,it is just a scam perpetrated by the filth and the govt.

sounds to me that the front number plate issue is more to do with revenue rather than safety ...but then again I'm cynical, and didnt they have them removed in the interests of safety in the first place
