Hi folks. I am back in town this weekend, well Saturday only, and am riding back to Rolleston on Sunday (they need the rain up that way).

It's about 8 hours or so. Anyone keen? In order to miss all the roos that are absolutely everywhere up that way at the moment, I'll be leaving Redcliffe about 6 or 7 am Sunday morning. If anyone is stupid enough to want to tag along I'll be going out through Toowoomba, Roma, Injune.

    All welcome!

By the way make that the 16th not the 15th - I've gotten a bit slow up in the country

    Change of plans....

Now going up through Gympie, Kilkivan, Gayndah, Monto, Biloela, Moura.

Thanks for the offer Rocka, maybe catch up on the way back.

    According to Google Maps it's 746km = 9 hours 31 minutes.

I have done the trip before in a car and I know it's less than that........I hope.

There are some great ranges with twisties and the Wideglide will be having one of its last big runs, so should be a blast.

Well, that was fun - 8 hrs 5 mins. 804 Km

Gotta love the smell of rotting roo carcasses. The bugs up this way are made of some sort of iron compound by the feel of them, with spikes.

I missed all the fun of country riding...not! Like the B Triples bouncing around over both lanes, the cattle trucks with their perfumed spray as they pass, the potholes the size of a moon crater. And the jumps between Moura and Rolleston.

This is about 150Km of nearly all straight road. Boring as batshit, but there are these undulations in the road that can get you airborne if you hit them just the wrong way with a bit of speed. When the sign says "Traffic Hazard Ahead", they mean it! They are the bad ones. Unfortunately you realise only too late that the sign is far enough back for someone doing 100 km/h, not considerably faster. Keeps you alert anyway.

But there are really great stretches, like Eidsvold to Monto or Gympie to Kilkivan, and the range coming down into Thangool. Lots of fast sweepers. Some tight corners for peg scraping, and lots and lots of straights where you can practice new ways of relieving the pressure off your arse, and get strange looks from passing cagers! Of course you can ride a Harley side-saddle!!

Not recommended for a Sunday ride, and would have been much better on an Ultra.  Can't wait for the trip across to Yeppoon - that's only about 3-1/2 hours each way.

    G'day Laurie
Shell and I came back from Emerald that way, the airborne sections too, it only took us 15 hours to do it because we had to keep slowing down for the road works and places where there shoulda been road works eg holy shit what was that!
I think they are caused from the overloaded cow cockies trucks.

Mick, the big dippers are caused more by those filthy miners bringing their oversized loads over second rate roads that were only built to take the weight of a bullock dray. Bastards!

And guess what....they had their first shower of rain here yesterday in months. Glad I could help.

Riding to Emerald on Friday morning, then to Yeppoon Friday afternoon. About 450 km. Back Sunday via the Morg, Wowan, Moura, about 380km.

Should be widespread showers about the Central Highlands on the weekend!

Regards from the HDFA SEQ Riders Central Qld Chapter.

If my bike wasn't in getting some work done to it, I would've come for a run through, and brought a few more with me...

We're only dirty miners though :D
