All jokes aside Jilli ... it's a fuel tap on a normal carb bike. If you're still buyin' the softail, it will not come with one and you don't need it. The fuel injection system will have a quick release fitting in place of the tap so you can disconnect it without the fuel draining from the tank. When it's connected the fuel is always on.

On a "lessons learnt" side always remember to disconnect the fuel line if you're ever going to move the tank. The other end of the line at the throttle body, has a pissy plastic fitting which WILL snap if too much lateral force is applied....
