The Mustang day tripper is a very well made seat, they use rivets not staples. It looks the goods and is more comfortable than that stock doofus looking arrangement. I got mine off ebay and was very happy with the price and fast delivery but I cant remember the sellers name.

I don't know if there is a better after market seat out there, maybe the Mustang vintage solo, aparemtly even more comfortable, but a little thicker. However don't think that the Mustang day tripper will allow you to ride for over 3 hours without a break. Then again I only have 11.5 inch suspension.

The Harley seats are pretty badly made compared to the tripper, which is cheaper than a Harley seat if you get one off a good ebay seller.

Somewhere in here I saw a reference to handlebars for the Nightster which were, I think, higher and closer to the rider than the standard ones. But I can't find the post about it.

I find I'm leaning a bit too much forward and, in fact, the palms of both hands cop a bit of pressure and pain from pressing on the grips.

Any clues re suitable bars will be appreciated.

(After that I spose it'll be forward controls!!!!)

    Thanks and Cheers, Clem

Hi saint c, we put a set of Dyna Superglide bars on the Nightster. Slightly higher and pulled in a bit. Made the difference. Will post some pics if you want.

Im waiting for the boat to get here with a silver denim Iron 883, so been trawling the internot for parts
found MandMcycles they can do harley for 15-20% cheaper.
    pretty much anything you want.
    great to deal with.
Licks cycles had a host of solo seats.
they now do the harley springer in black.
Im planning on the black HD seat and v+H straight shot slip ons ($322 usd delivered from mandm) for starters.
kinda like the battastini round hole in black for grips, bit bling not so old school but nice custom look.
I saw some dudes doing front head light inversions making them higher like old school chopper style. looks cool info is on some of the us forums.
I cant wait for the bike, my boss picks up his Nightster tomorrow hurry up boat!!!!

Heeeeeeey Calabros, go easy on ya smellin of all that tile adhesive!!!!

Have you still got my lil business card (ie bit of paper!!) so we can hook up cos I'm in for a ride sometime that's for sure.

I went for a scoot to Kyogle today, then from there to Casino, Lismore and home. That gave my butt a bit of experience with the new Mustang seat. It is 100% better than the bike's original seat, BUT I think I'll still do better with an Airhawk under my butt as well.

I shall catch up with you. Cheers, Clem

G'day Clem how are you going I am glad to see you are happy with your new seat a mate of mine put one on his bike and told me it was money well spent.

Clem back to the handle bars you my find a set of new grips may help as well I found the standed grips were not much good on my XL1200R so I put a set of Kuryakun ISO grips I had them on other bikes I owned they do take the pressure off your hands and cut down the vibration you get though the bars but I also must admit I do like the Superglide handle bars fitted to Matt's bike from the photos he has posted here maybe somewhere down the track I might try a set myself.

Gday Choco, good to see you here.

Yes, I have the Kuryakun grips and prefer the larger size of them to the skinny originals. Got the Kury footpegs as well.

Yep, Matt's Superglide bars look the ducks guts don't they.

have had my nightster since may 09 have added black sidshots & f/controls inverted mirors & have ordered 27" dragway bars

front suspension seemed to be  bottoming out til I changed the fork oil for a heavier oil it has made a different bike out of it.much better. as for lifting the butt off the seat , it's not a drama for the lumps you see, it's the unseen arse kickers that steady you up a bit

    cheers

The 27 inch bars will be too short. You need 32's. This is because 27's will not allow you enough room between the brake master/brakeline and the forks. I tried 28's and had to can them for 32's. Don't fuck around with bending the brake line or stupid shit like that

Get black 32 inch Santee drag bars and save yourself a world of pain trying to make the brake fit on the bars.

Let us know how you go

    Interesting info Jimmy Jazz.

Well I stuffed up, no point not admitting it! I felt sure I would be more comfortable with forward controls on my 08 Nightster so I got them fitted last week.... and I took them off last week too!!!!

The forwards were just not good for me. I felt neither comfortable nor safe with them on. It was an interesting exercise and one I'm pleased to have tried but I have a long ride to Bulahdelah this Easter weekend to a DungbeetleBiker Bash and I wanted to have the same control of my bike as I have with the pegs and controls in the original mid position.

So that's the story of that!!!!

    Cheers.-Clem

Yep that sounds right, the nightster is not a bike for forward controls, probably be ok if you run an Indian Larry type scenario with Ape hangers and 11.5 rear shocks. But thats a project for another day.
