After a twenty year stint in the insurance industry I have decided to pull the pin.

Unfortunately I haven't got as far down the process as deciding what to do next.

I have sales and admin experience and all the usual skills that go along with being in an office. I have worked on the side occasionally as a part time truck driver and have held a HR license for 20 years.

In the current boom time in WA and Oz Generally where would the folk here head for work?

    All ideas welcomed.

    cheers

Wanna make some cash, register with the nearest employment agency, Skilled, Extraman, Manpower etc.

Tell em you want to work in mining and are ready to mobilise when required. Fly in fly out operations are popular.

At the moment a HR license is usually a good thing, but tell em your prepared to do anything.

I've been in hte mining game for 20 odd years now and we're grabbing what is available at the time.

They're predicting that Queensland will be 20,000, WA 30,000 and NSW 10,000 short of workers in the mining industry in the next 10 years.

Never been a better time to get the 'nest egg' happening.

Just gotta be prepared to put the hard yards in, do the hours and prepare to travel.

Forklift, loader and bobcat (skidsteer loader) experience/tickets highly desirable

On the other hand there is work all over. I did a 3 month caravan trip from one end of WA to the other last year and there were jobs everywhere. The people have all pissed of to the mines. Cops, teachers, labuorers, chippies etc. Shops were closed up north 'cause they had no staff.

    Good luck

I was offered a job driving trucks here in Perth the other day and even though I am retired they still tried hard to get me behind the wheel.  So plenty of work around if you want it.

Always loads of work here in Kalgoorlie WA mining if that's your cup of tea. They tell me that KCGM have just advertised 2 days 2 nights 4 off steering wheel attendant jobs starting at 70k.......if you can disconnect the brain for 12 hours at a time.
