Mate and I plan to go to Sturgis in 2010 and plan to buy a bike each, do Sturgis and ride around the US for the rest of our 4 month holiday.
Interested in hearing from anyone who has done same, in regards to any problems they may have had, how they got on as far as rego and insurance and Australian licences. Is it worth getting international drivers licences.
What did you do for accomodation, both at Sturgis and while travelling around.
Did you prebook at Sturgis.
Did you bring the bike back or flog it off before you came back. If you bought it back, did you have any problems with customs.
Has anyone one bought back vehicles in sea containers. How did you organize that.
Any additional info appreciated.
You won't be able to bring the bike back unless;
1 You purchase the bike, have the details entered into your passport,
2 Own the bike in the USA for 12 months and also live there for said 12 months.
Check the Customs site.
Is there an age restriction on what bikes you can bring back.
I think, but do check with customs that pre 89 the above do not apply.
