Hey Dazza after an idea as to this workin, I want to keep the same fender style (FXSTC going to widen a standard fender) and was thinking if I make up new struts, bolt them to the existing struts with spacers, weld to existing struts and then cut off the originals

The steel I am holding is to show what I am talkin about. (very roughly) Is there a reason this wont work??

    Hey Daggs

How much room did you have left between the tyre and gaurd when you finished ,im doing my 07 wide glide and looks like about 3 mm each side ,thinking about spacing the fender supports ?

yeah mine has about 4 or 5 mm each side clearance, I thought the fender width may have been greater on the Wide Glides as they come stock with the 180.

I didn't alter the fender or fender spacing, just modified the guard mounting bracket, made captive low profile nuts for it and removed the wiring that runs on the inside of the fender.

    Hey Daggs

After trying to fit the wrong rear hub (softtail  is 20mm wider,HD wheels sent the wrong one) ;) the new wheels fitted straight in no mods at all.Send some pics soon

Great post mate. I am wanting to do a 180-200 on my 97 Fatty. Aside from trying to find the right rim, its a bit more complex I think but not difficult at all. Mod swingarm, spacers, thinner belt etc. What was your internal swingarm diametre mate ie: axle spacer to axle spacer.

I'll check my drawings or have a measure when I get home, at work now. Cheers

Just put a 200 Metz on, 8mm wider on the rim than the 200 Avon was.. Looks better but less clearance to the guard, belt and swingarm is no worries

My Dyna is 268mm inside to inside of swingarm, hope this helps.
I kept the full width belt and it doesn't even come close to the tyre
and wheel is perfectly centred in frame/swingarm
