I went to my local stealer today to spend some money on my bike.
I queried him about some accessories and he told me - "Get them off the internet".
He then returned to the rear of the shop and his beer. I won't be returning.
Thats pretty fucking sad and unfortunately typical of parts retailers here and retailers in general in Australia. I rang the stealers the other day to compare prices for a windshield, I'd already got a quote from M&M Cycles in the U.S. I'd always prefer to buy locally even if it cost me a little more (not too much), but I tell you what they were hopeless, I asked some pretty basic questions about the shield, they couldn't answer and told me it would be around $600 plus mounting hardware of $70. I emailed the same question to M&M he told me for sure that the hardware was included and he could deliver the shield to my door for $440 AU. A no brainer.
The stealers shop is on Old Cleveland Road at Capalaba - the Brissy folk will probably know.
And they wonder why we shop on the net
What a knob jockey
got am E-mail from my director yesterday saying Cowleys in Pt.Lincoln has gone into adminastration, No idea why
we often complain about price but they were always cheaper then Peter Stevens
maybe thats why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just while we're plugging & bagging - Sy's HD in Sydney always come up with the goods with gen HD accessories & service is excellent.
My local dealer here in Canberra - hmm, not always interested in what you want to buy....was actually told once that they wouldn't order some badges & stuff I wanted, because they'd have to order a certain amount of them & it wasn't worth their while. Also wouldn't haggle over the price of a new Dyna - got told to take it or leave it!
Mind you, they have some healthy competition thses days, the Chopperworks shop is round the corner. They told me they would beat any price I was quoted at the stealer and so far they have honoured that eg. gen HD chrome rear pulley cover was $130 at HD, Choppers sold it to me for $99.
