I went to my local stealer today to spend some money on my bike.

I queried him about some accessories and he told me  - "Get them off the internet".

He then returned to the rear of the shop and his beer. I won't be returning.

Thats pretty fucking sad and unfortunately typical of parts retailers here and retailers in general in Australia.  I rang the stealers the other day to compare prices for a windshield, I'd already got a quote from M&M Cycles in the U.S.  I'd always prefer to buy locally even if it cost me a little more (not too much), but I tell you what they were hopeless, I asked some pretty basic questions about the shield, they couldn't answer and told me it would be around $600 plus mounting hardware of $70.  I emailed the same question to M&M he told me for sure that the hardware was included and he could deliver the shield to my door for $440 AU.  A no brainer.

Yup, there is some brain dead fkrs out there thats for sure. Some people shouldnt be in business, or be allowed to make money more the point with that attitude. Best way I find is get to know one person at your local dealers - Deal with only them - And before you know it your headaches are cut to a minimum. These days I just ring ask for spare parts the bloke I wanna speak to get all me stuff no worries and with a discount too boot. Dealing with some knob jockey who only got his job there a week ago will do nothing but frustrate even the most patient person lol.

E:G In the Stealers couple weeks back, new bloke working behind the counter comes up to my mate spare parts and says, is this an evo or a twin cam airfilter ? LMAO I mean fuck me dead you dont have to be a rocket scientist to know twin cams oval evo is round. These seem to be the type of people they hire unfortunatly. Pretty sad when the person standing on the otherside of the counter knows more than the bloke who fkin works here lol. And seriously if he was stumped on a aircleaner imagine a technical question ? I do understand people have to start somewhere but in a multi million dollar industry would you hire them ? Fuck that. Bike knowledge or fuck off m8.

I felt like emailing HD Headquaters, and saying these are the type of people selling your stuff. Hmmmm, Be good if at peter stevens they built a brick wall beside all thier counters, That was you could at least turn around and bang ya head against it there and then. They might get the message lol.

Just while we're plugging & bagging - Sy's HD in Sydney always come up with the goods with gen HD accessories & service is excellent.

My local dealer here in Canberra - hmm, not always interested in what you want to buy....was actually told once that they wouldn't order some badges & stuff I wanted, because they'd have to order a certain amount of them & it wasn't worth their while. Also wouldn't haggle over the price of a new Dyna - got told to take it or leave it!

Mind you, they have some healthy competition thses days, the Chopperworks shop is round the corner. They told me they would beat any price I was quoted at the stealer and so far they have honoured that eg. gen HD chrome rear pulley cover was $130 at HD, Choppers sold it to me for $99.
