Hi, I would like to know if anyone has had problems with their exhaust cracking or snapping just in front of the butterfly valve. Mine snapped clean off just in front of the flapper valve, along the weld after 1800klms. Apparently HD know about the problem. The local guys here fixed it by removing the valve and putting in a sleeve untill HD send a replacement or redesigned part. Also would like to know if SE slip ons will fit on some other aftermarket headers eg V&H power duals or true duals
Just put it on them, they turned my around in less than a week, they originaly said they had to wait 4 weeks for it to come from the states, but after some negotiations they took it off another bike on the showroom floor.
Gruvy
Hi Coops, No dramas replying to an old thread if its relevent to your situation....l
Mine cracked on my 20009 flht at about 30-40,000 kms. Pissed off the active exhaust valve completly and replaced with stainsteel pipe to suite exhaust length.
While I had the exhaust off the bike,, it was an excuse to remove the cat.
Having a sleeve and clamps as a replacemnet for a welded pipe, I find a bit sus,, just my opinion !!!! I take it , you have no active exhaust valve now ??
If you have no active exhaust valve, I take it you have the actuator disabled ??? (so the cable that went to the AEV is not trying to rotate)
With regard re tuning,,,, If you have a auto tune type tuner, I suppose you would go for a few runs and let the auto tuner do its job. If not ,,, and you dont have any negative performance issues leave everything as is !!! If it was the space shuttle, going to Mars, I suppose a re tune would be be advisable ,,,, but we are'nt talking about the space shuttle !!!!!
attached are a couple of pics,,, the one with the clamps was temporary only ,,, when the pipe cracked on the road !!!!
Cheers .
