I have to get my Ness mirrors rechromed as the chrome is starting to come off, how do i get the glass out(does it have to come out) and how do i put the glass back in, or do i have to go to a glass shop??? I may as well do this in the winter time when i am not riding the bike as much.

The Glass just has a couple of drops of glue holding them in, Just Heat them up with a Hot Blow Gun or Hair Dryer, and the Glass will fall out

Thanks for the tip, i will heat them up. They are cheaper to rechrome as they cost $240.00 each now, and i can get them rechromed for a fraction of that. Is there a special glue you have to use to put the glass back in? or the old super glue be ok?

i would suggest a small claw hammer Tapey. One or two solid hits shoud see the glass out....lol. Youse sickaflex (spelling sux) that the windscreen mob use.

Don't use silicone, I was told it can eventually cause the film on the back of the glass to break down over time.

I spent about 15 years in the glass game so read this first.
Most mirrors are pressed in with a plastic gasket, some are glued.
If you break the glass getting it out keep the peices so the poor buggers have a template.
No glass shop can supply curved mirror, they are cast just like making an ashtray.
Most glass shops wont have the right tint in the 1.6 - 2mm range you will need. ElCheapo mirror tiles are perfect.
Seal the edge of the backing with clear Esterpol to extend life(mirror is pure silver protected with a brass coating witch is protected by a paint coating and the all 3 corroad from the exposed edge.)
Any Glue that is NON-acidic and flexable, Automotive windcreen Sika-flex is perfect, if you stop by a smaller indy shop they'll most likly squirt a bit on and tell you "make sure you come here when you need a screen".
