Just fitted a Sony Radio, Biketronics 1002 kit and Hogtune speakers to the Black FLHT.  Was a pretty simple thing to do if you follow the instructions, to about 4 hours and sounds bloody great

 

Didn't take photos cos the friggen camera has flat batteries but there is a link on the US HD forum thats got good detail.

Any way now I can dance to my own tunes hahaha coz it's even got a usb port for the Ipod.

                     i have same bike as you but kept my 07 harmon kardon ome

  have sort of narrowed it down to an arc amp + arc 6.5" speakers but hard to make a choice without hearing a system

   have researched the us hd forum a lot and the yanks liked em

      i gather your new setup is pretty loud and no distortion ?

     did you buy from the states and if so can ya let me know where ya got a good deal?

Ok have done a 350 km ride today out through the hills to Beverly for lunch.  The radio with the in the fairing antennastoppe picking up the stations at Armadale just short of the hills.  So went to the Ipod for music and it performed quite well which did sirprised me as I thought I wouldn't hear it properly but I heard it all especially with the full face helmet visor open, would be better with a open face but to friggen cold still for 1 of them. The riders hand controls were real easy to operate on the go and changed songs etc with no probs.  The speakers had no distortion that I could pick up so I was quite happy about that.  All in all a good system and certainly a lot easeir on the ears as no more wearing earplugs.

Yep there is antenna cable rolled up next to fuse box, there is a antenna mount available that mounts between the left saddle bag and the rear fender. I have 1 on order but it's not due for release untill 10/8/09. 76556-09 Antenna Relocation Kit - AM/FM, page 478 item C of the 09 of the accessories catlouge. If you order 1 you will need to order a antenna as well, 76503-08 Antenna Mast.

Back from the Border Run and the radio set up ran flawlessly, once radio reception ran out just pluged the Ipod in via the USB fitting and it was bloody great, had full control of the Ipod via the riders hand controls and never had any issues with it over the 4 days I  was on the road.

Incidently mine was the only HD on the run this year.

The Sony looks good, I saw Bobs on the weekend and I reckon a radio makes riding that bit more enjoyable

  have finally ordered the  arc amp + speakers from  firecap on the US hd forum

  this guy is great to do business with and doesnt mind a yarn [ kept chatting away for 45 mins]  bit concerned about the next phone bill

  anyway originally was ordering the arc mini amp and 6.5' speakers for $470 usd + freight of $55 usd

  but the guy gave me a free upgrade to component speakers seperate tweeters to go in the spare gauge holes in the egs dash

  he advises to shift the fuel + volt gauges down to the spare holes and put the tweeters up top

  will give an update when the gear turns up

i know this is an old post but,the radio on my 94 electra glide hasnt worked since i got it, its actually got a tape deck in it ( a testament to its age)
do you think something similar would available for an older bike like mine?

ive got an 08 FLHX and put the HD boom box speakes in and fitted them to my lower fairings and they sound good and reasenably loud thinking of a HD amp too the only thing is the HD speakers need a program put in to makem sound even better... J.D

yeh but you have to change speekers too the older had i think 4ohm speekers and the newer has 2ohm HH had the up grade kjit on special about a mth ago .. J.D.

just make sure the ohm's are to suit or you'll blow your amp...J.D.
