    Michelin’s Scorcher ‘31’ OE for Harley-Davidson Models

    July 27, 2009

Michelin and Harley-Davidson have joined forces to develop the all-new Michelin Scorcher “31” tire, which carries both companies’ trademarks on its sidewalls and the signature Harley-Davidson logo carved into the shoulder.
Available exclusively as OE on four 2010 Harley-Davidson Dyna models, the all-new tire delivers superior performance in three key areas, providing sensational grip, impressive durability and excellent handling, according to Michelin.

“Michelin has specifically engineered this innovative and durable tire to meet the high expectations of Harley-Davidson owners,” said Gary Midkiff, vice president of Michelin North America’s two wheel division. “Michelin is excited to build upon our successful relationship with Harley-Davidson as we launch this historic first original equipment fitment.”

The tire’s deep-cut tread design improves grip and water evacuation capability. The Scorcher “31” also features particularly high mileage, a result of the premium-quality components used in its rubber compounds and Michelin’s exclusive manufacturing process. Aramid belts under the rear tread stabilize the contact patch, while the carcass plies are made from polyester to provide exceptional ride comfort, the tiremker said.

As well as being offered as OE on 2010 Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide, Super Glide Custom, Street Bob and Low Rider models, the Scorcher “31” tire can also be fitted on a variety of 2006-2009 Dyna models.

Today I got onto Michelin who put me onto their import agent who looked up the tyre and then told me 'Sorry but they aren't imported into Australia yet"

Bugga now I am going to squeeze a 170/60 into the rear gaurd. I might just leave it till the weekend. Keep an eye out for the Street Bob with the fattest tyre to fit under the guard

Hopefully it means there is a rear tyre that will last longer than the 5000kms I currently get from Dunlop and Avon!!!!!
