Harley CB radios are 27Mhz which is not really used any more. 27 meg CB is HF and relies on upper atmosphere propogation (skip) to operate over any distance but the reality is that 27 meg is crap and that is why it is not commonly used.

PK you are correct the right side is CB  double coil aerial on the right how many times do you see it on the left even when new i changed mine to the 09 stubbies a lot smaller and work well. It's a bit sad when you have to tell the dealer they are fitted wrong makes you wonder.Bring on UHF.Mine works fine but the wind noise drives you crazy.

It seems Dale McLean Motorcycle Electronics in Swansea NSW has the answer with a lead that allows you to hook up a GME UHF to the Harley Radio so it works with the headset etc PH 0249715239 0410461250 dmme@optusnet.com.au Thanks to all that replied.
