hi, service the bob weights 1st  if the weights are worn you can replace the weights & springs  if its s/hand ,   make sure the rotor that  slides on the centre shaft is not worn-out if so buy new ones about $30,

pull spark plugs jack back wheel up put it top gear ,  rotate untill you get the front cly up on compression stroke , thats after the front inlet pushrod has gone up & down , bring piston to TDC  come back slightly untill  the full adv mark on the flywheel  is in the middle of the window  it should be the strike mark for full ADV  & the dot should be TDC mark but always check 1st with a allen key down the spark plug hole that will vertify timing marks are corect because someone could have put later flywheels in her you never know unless you check it your self 1st as 1979 later 80ci has the timing marks around the other way  e.g. dot is full ADV.

anyway bring it up to full ADV timing mark ground spark plugs out  turn ign on ,    turn ign rotor to full ADV (counter clockwise ) turn backing plate  slowly untill you hear the spark plugs fire it will make a little click noise or use a test light on the neg side of the front coil , thats good enough to start her then use a timing light at 2,700 to 3,700 rpm + to make sure it is correct  , that enough info for your answer  to sort it , if  you don't have instruction sheet , if not i think i do i can fax to you of find it on the net & print .  cheers ,

you do have to check the air gaps on both modules  to make sure the bob weights are running central .  cheers
