Ok I recently posted a thread about my right indicators not working.  The problem now goes deaper.  Here goes - Its a 1995 heritage which has no light bar (looks same as a fatboy)  - My right indicators dont work at all.  There is no power going to the right indicator at either end.  There is power at the switch though.  NOW the left indicators turn on but do not flash.  Now the indicators are Zodiac after market mini diamond turn signals.  When I splice the power wire at the front next to the front left indicator and attach the genuine indicator into the mix (whilst the other indicators are still fitted to the bike) the indicators work perfectly??????  What does this mean?  Has it got something to do with the turn signal module needing a certain voltage load to make them flash???  Also before anyne asks YES all the bulbs are fine.  Also this model does not have a computer so I have no error codes to check.  Please help as I dont fancy paying the local stealer $110 an hour to fix it.  Thanks guys.

Thanks hattown but I dont think my model has a flasher unit?? Or is that the same as the turn signal module which is mounted between the tanks?  Also if the flasher wasnt working why would it still let the left side flash when i connect the original indicator into the wiring????

this is a common prob with aftermarket blinkers. easy to fix. go to your local custom shop and get a ballast resistor kit to fit into your wiring . all instructions come with the kit, piss easy takes about 20 mins to do. think the kit is called badlands indicator kit. used to be about 50bucks. if your in qld ,rollies speed shop has em.if you cant get one pm me and i will track one down 4 you.

As what angry said, I don't know exact reason why but it it a common problem, something to do with different power required, happens with LED mostly....

What you need is call a Badlands Load equalizer. The aftermarket indicators dont draw the current like the stock indicators. Beware of cheap fixes or you wont need to put a match to it as it will self ignite.

    FYI

Badlands Load Equalizer  LE-01           Retails from $60+

All models '91-up with self canceling indicators
This electronic unit is designed to return amperage draw to the correct factory specification when aftermarket marker lights are used to replace stock turn signals on Harley-Davidsons that have a self canceling system (’91 and newer FXR’s and Softail’s). The self canceling Brain Box must have the correct draw in order to function properly. The load equalizer can also be used in place of a heavy duty flasher on early model bikes when small marker lamps with wedge bulbs are being used as turn signals.

    LOAD EQUALIZER FITS : 1991 - 1999

Funny you should ask BAKES.  The right side is fixed too but I'm not sure why.  Before fitting the badlands unit I took the tanks off and traced the right indicator wires back to the turn signal module.  I performed the checks on the module plug with jumper wires etc like the service manual says to do and after doing these checks and pluging it back in the right side started working again??????  Maybe it was a dodgy connection although there was no corrossion on the plug so i dont know really but all is good and working now so i am one happy camper!!!
