From 79 Low Riders had the 80ci engine.

Found a sales brochure with the 1980 models, I believe the only diff between 79 and 80 were paint options. In 81 they changed the rear brake to a Y style bracket, but yours looks to have been modified anyway. Those blinkers are ugly, but stock. Forward controls are aftermarket, but look good. Real sweet m8.  Cris.

No Dave, my 81 had twin pipes and I removed the baffles. my missus could hear me coming home 3 suburbs away.
All my mates had changed their pipes from stock too. Back then nobody liked that look.
Like with everything though, you can always tinker.

 

hi , is she a 79 or 80 model  if its a 1979  the frame/engine number should  end the last 2 digits in  H9 ,the 79 & 80 superglide FX  had a longer straighter slash cut muffler , the 1980 sturgis had a more shorter bubble straight end  cut outlet  muffler  both had the same  2 into 1  headers, mufflers are very quiet  its the 1st of the polution control  mufflers  thats another reason why people took them off  + they wanted to hear the 2 seperate sound  of the harley motor  compared to the early years , i have an 1980 sturgis i'am restoring  back to original spec  still has old original paint ,  if i can help with info ,  cheers my memory is a bit sad  some times

1979 had both 1200 and 1340
was a bit of a mixed up model year
