I am going to remove the stock air cleaner from my 09 softy and put the K&N from my 06model on and I am wondering if there is anything I should know before I try and fit it ?? From memory, the shop originally fitted an SE backing plate with the K&N filter to the 06 model so that is what I will be fitting to the 09. I assume I should buy a new gasket and o-rings but should I be using locktite on the bolts and is there anything else I need to know ?? Thanks for any replys.

Make sure the tab that is in the way (if the S/E back pate has it) gets filed down took me about 3 minutes with a rough file. I don't use loctite on air filter cover, have had 1 bolt come loose only once. Make sure you use grease on both sides of filter so it seals properly....

you will probly need to remap or rejet to get any performance benifit from it. bike will run a lot leaner with free flowing aircleaner.

Job done TMAX installed as well, running sweet.
