99 model dyna stalling issues

    Hi All, i am new o the harley scene only buying my first one a few months ago, i have a 99 model dyna twin cam with carby, lately the engine light has been coming on and when i rode it the other day i got about a kilometre from home and the bike stalled when i came to a halt and i couldnt start cause the battery went dead, i recharged the battery cause i thought it may be low charge, i put a multi meter on it and it says it is charging at 14.6 volts, is the voltage reg gone on it??? please help... any ideas??? i am stuck

    mate if you have a 12volt battery it has to charge more than 12 v 14.6 v is fine means its charging at 2.6 volts i yhink thats ok. a fully charged battery can read 13.2 v go get a load test on your batto they dont last forever.

    Had the same bike and problem , the cause was the big connector behing the voltage regulator got full of water, cleaned and dryed it out, put it back together and never had another problem from it again.

    thanks bandit, i put a new regulator on it last night, the plug seamed a little loose and "gritty" i cleaned that up and put the multimetre on the battery, the battery is charging at 14.6 volts but the engine light is still on, i might have to start tracing all the wires and make sure they are ok and not earthing out anywhere. cheers

    there is another plug behind the reg with a rubber type cover over it, check it and the connections in it
