Hi all,

Just came across this forum searching for some parts for a 95 FXDL that we just picked up a few weeks ago.

.

I have been out of the HD scene for a few years working in a different industry and being tied up in motorsport.

Bit of history, purchased my first HD in 1979, a WLA in full trim. Spent a couple of years customising it while finishing my trade as a motorcycle mechanic. Then went out on my own and opened a motorcycle repair shop focusing on HD’s, ended up dealing with an importer and picking bikes out from the states for resale, had a lot of fun on the journey and ended up keeping a 51 Pan that I customised and kept for many years.

Worked for a Harley Dealer in NSW as workshop manager, it’s a shame, the owners had conflict and pulled the pin on one of the best jobs I have had. Spent some time in Frasers workshop over 12 months through the dealership and met some great people on the way.

Ended up working from home for a couple of years but ran out of room and was not in the position to finance a franchise so changed career, sold the bike and life went on.

Just recently moved to Vic, great roads down here, kids have grown up so back on a big twin and could not be happier (except for a few mods I want to do!!)

Hope to get an opportunity to meet up with some forum members down this way some time.

gday dave welcome to the forum mate. well what a coincedence you have the same story to tell as a good mate of mine.your not going bald stand about 5"8 tall and just moved to melbourne into a crappy job have ya ?
ya went the wrong way mate should have headed north.
you will enjoy the forum mate plenty of people down your way to hook up with for a ride.

Hi All,

Thanks for the welcome. will be looking at a run up to Ballarat in a couple of weeks, perhaps some others would like to join in.

We often head up that way as my son and I race Karts at Haddon, my wife is keen to look at a castle at Ballarat that we drive past, I reckon a ride up there would be good and a trip into town for lunch. Will let you know as we get close if there is any interest.
