Can any-one enlighten me as to what is meant by postponed....normally that would mean not now but at a later date....or has the thing been totally cancelled, finished, kaput????....never to see the light of day again....
couple of points here, wintersun is still on,this subject comes up every year, a few shopkeepers in the area complained because the cars and crowds stop access to their shops, although they make a small fortune out of it they want a bigger fortune and if they cant have it they will try to stuff it up for others. bike week was cancelled because the police told the organizers that there had to be police"specials" on site at a cost of approx 80grand not including overtime etc.all of which is to be paid by the organizers. the security company also increased its rate for private security. there has never been any trouble at bike week, but the police insist on increasing security. they also said that they would invite the transport dept and do full checks on ALL bikes entering and leaving the site. the police have achieved the outcome they wanted in causing the postponement of the event. as far as the Daniel Morcombe ride goes, the police told the organisers they would not allow the event to go ahead if any patch club members rode on the ride. it was done by the police NOT the organisers.many will have noticed lately here in qld there has been a sharp increase in the reporting of :bikie related crime, namely a shooting on the GC ,which turned out to have no connection whatso ever to clubs, though there was no retraction printed, a murder here in bris was reported as bikie related, this turned out to be a family conflict with no club connection, again no retraction, all of these reports go to the media direct from the police media unit. the police do have an agenda whether the public see it or not,it is a fact. if they dont why do they pull up all bikes instead of just patch wearing members? the other issue is terminology, they are bike CLUBS,not gangs. people show there ignorance and predjudices calling them gangs,it shows they believe all the crap the police and media spin, and accept it as gospel without understanding the fact that there are 3 sides to every story, your side,my side and the truth. wether you like it or not we are all getting tarred with the same brush, bikie or not, thanks to police and media propaganda. you can either live with it or do something about it.
