Dunlop double compound

While perusing the latest RoadRider magazine I come across a short information about Dunlop's new tyre.

That's what the bit was about (Short version)

"The dual-compound RoadSmart replaces the D205 and D220 and will be available in seven front and eleven rear sizes, including "Adventure Touring" model sizes.

The rear tyres are constructed with Dunlop's version of triple-tread construction using a firmer traction compound in the centre and undertreated area together with a softer 'lateral grip' compound on the sides for cornering and wet grip. This type of tread construction is extremely close to the layout Dunlop uses in the Sportmax GP and the Superbike slicks.

Recomended retail price for the range will vary from $195 for the smallest size front to $310 for the 200/50ZR17, so it is competitive with equivalent products from other manufacturers."

What do you think?   Would that be the answer to our dillema of tyre choice?

    Any comment appreciated.

with the softer sides and harder middle it may stop the tyres from being worn in the middle only in areas where there are not many bends on the roads i.e. most of mainland Australia. Should result in more even tyre wear.
