I thought the idea for a kill switch was to short out the coil , i did this by shorting out the main
power feed to the coil, all this did was smoke up the switch wiring and i think knackered the
switch .I am now thinking the right proceedure is to short the two terminals on the coil that feed
the front and rear pots (single fire ignition ). can some one confirm that this would be correct
before i burn my shed down .

G'day Bluey , yes the mufflers are on but certainly are very restrictive , so much so
the motor seemed to be flooding , 80 k's top speed ! I put a crowbar through to
make about 1/2 " hole in each which helped , when i get passed the sound test with the engineer
I'll stick the crowbar right through . The cv carb jets have most likley been messed with
in a previous life , i just want to get the thing engineered and on the road .
Hows your new unit going then .

Thanks Ray , i have trouble getting how a coil actually works , like theres
threes wires coming from the ignition modual to the coil ,power , front ,back cylinder
thought if i short the power one would kill the lot.
Bluey ,
thanks for the offer of your old cv but i'm sure this one is ok , it just
needs some attention that i havent given it , its been sitting for some
time and i expect it to work correctly first time, thanks very muchjust the same .
Scotty ,
please accept my apology , this is a flogger that i am scratching together , it is an 1993
evo motor with a crane HI 4 ignition with a single fire coil, making my own wiring harness
and having difficulty in working out how to incorperate the kill switch . My clymer wiring diagrams
all have dual fire coils so i can't follow them as my coil has a terminal for each cylinder .If i only
earthed 1 pot through the kill switch would this be sufficient to kill the motor or would she still run
on one ?
its a little modual in the nose cone
Aussie,
i was thinkingto send the cuurent to earth would stop the coil from working
thanks v. much for your time and thoughts and imputs ,because the red ignition wire
and power feed from the key are both joined on that centre post i think i'll just melt
the wires again .
my plan now is to run the power wire from the ignition switch through a normally closed relay
and run kill switch on the other side of the relay so when the kill switch is pressed the circuit
completes therefore cutting the power to the coil . But i'm going to try your way first because i
can't find a normally closed relay, if there is such a thing.
thanks everyone for your help .wally
