    hello all fellow harley lover's

    heres the story:

a few years back i bought a ticket from "harleys 4 helicopters" which is a bunch of people who ride around raising money for wetpac helicopters. well i got a call saying i had won the harley. which is a 1200 custom sporster which was brand new at the time. i was 12 when i got it. i am 17 now. now u could imagine my excitement when i found out i had won it!!! haha. so it has been sitting in my loungeroom ever since. we start it up regulary. but it needs to be ridden, i know. i will add a few pics of it. looks basic at the moment. but when i get a chance, i will "pimp" it out haha

    thanks for reading

p.s do i look  big enough to handle it?? i can handle its weight. i have ridden bikes since i was a young

    pps. more pics coming

    Welcome to the forum Sportykid,

Mate, I have to say that is one fantastic story, so you're saying that you've kept that bike for five years in you're living room until you're now olde enough to ride it.

I think that's great, well done and enjoy it.

PS - If you don't mind I'm moving this post to the intros section as more people will read it.

    Cheers,

    Kingchops.

5 years on and 0Km... gotta love that.. at 17 am guessing maybe you have a little longer before you have the licence to ride it :( but could be wrong)... as any said some air in those tyres wont go astray and i'm thinking a good service will also be a good idea.... lucky bastard

thanks guys!!!! 0.9 km's on it. mainly from me riding it from lounge room to kithcen. i get alot of people tell me off saying i am a spoilt brat for keeping it. well my opinion is i bought the 5 dollar ticket so i won it fair and square. and the main this i RESPECT the bike.

before i take it for a spin up the road i plan on having a bike mechanic go over the whole thing. only got my moto l's recentley, riding a WR 400. what are sportys like on power compared to the bigger bikes? being a 1200 custom it would have a fair bit of go??

im from berry in nsw. any of you ever ride through here? or stop at our pub?

    a much happy lad, Casey

    Welcome to the forum mate.

I would like to congratulate you not only on your excellent ride (you are absolutely right - you won it fair and square and it's yours) but also and maybe foremost on your attitude.

It looks as you have your head properly screwed on. Lot of people are quick to slag young people for being irresponsible, silly and with happy-go-lucky attitude (heard about COREY?) but not so quick to praise where praise is due. How many kids your age and in your circumstances would go for a ride without the licence? The fact that you waited for 5 years makes you a champ in my book!!!!

Anyway, pump up the tyres, service it and go for a ride.

Welcome Sportykid. In the words of Monty Python, "you lucky, lucky, bastard"    Good on you for your attitude. There's a bunch of us on this forum from down in the Adelaide area. Let's do a ride one day and meet up half way or something. Thats a ripper 'smaller' harley you have there but it's still a big bike. Get your skills up, enjoy it and stay safe.

Well done Mate but I think that you should keep it in your bedroom...what a great way to get chicks into your bedroom than to say "do you want to have a look at my Harley"...then you can lock the door. You will love it when you get out on the road but take it steady as the last thing you want to do is drop it after it sitting in the house for so long.Good to see someone out there with some luck.

Good story Sportykid, every one's dream to win a Harley. I bought raffle tickets for years trying, and still but some now I own a bike, still live in hope.
    Enjoy the ride......TC
