I have followed the instructions to the letter and I still can not get my laptop to communicate with the ECM.

I am using a Compaq Presario V6503au with Vista and all I get is a message "No response from the ALDL adapter" and to check all cables and swicthes, I have also followed the instructions in chapter 6 to no availe.

What a fuchead I am, there are 2 sockets/plugs that will take the communication cable on the bike, like a dick I used the first 1 I laid eyes on, yes the 1 under the seat!!!!

How fucken stupid am I for not checking out the fuse box area coz that's where the correct 1 resides and it even worked first time...................  Still kicking my self for not checking this yeserday when I first started this exercise................................

Piggy, as AKA said the com port assignment and driver is what did me.....for some reason I lost the driver and the TTS wouldn't assign a com port....we (Stix and I) spent a few hours stuffing around with it...at the end I took me gear home and went through the process again....reloaded the driver from the TTS disc and bingo...had com port 3 and 7 come up.....in my case 7 was the one TTS needed, In fact I didn't have to have the bike hooked to the TTS just the USB/serial adaptor plugged into me USB socket, had instant communication etc.....
