    Hi all,

I'm new to the world of HD, and actually still waiting on delivery of my fxdf due in May, but I'm getting some gear ready to put on when it finally arrives.

I'm planning on the following pimpups; polished wheels ( woulda preferred spokes but not optioned by HD), relocate front blinkers to forks, put on my kury mirrors and pegs I have in the toold box already, kury ISO grips, PCIII , big air kit and pipes.

Problem is the pipes. I'm not sold on the std pipes. They remind me of the std pipes on my old ride (a Suki M109R which I couldnt wait to change out for Cobras.)

I like the Samson Big Guns 3 Street Sweepers, and the V&H Big Radius but I hear the V&H Big Rads block off the oil dipstick so you cant check oil without removing the header pipes. Is this true?  What a pain to have to unbolt a exhaust to check oil......talk about lazy design engineering....!

If yes, I might just go for the rush 2" slipons boloneys.  They seems to look the best of whats araound.  Also, I believe if I remove the original pipes and fit a Stage 1 big-air kit I will need to install some ECU inline tweaks from BigJoes for the pipes and aircleaners. True?

    Any help appreciated thanks all.

The dipstick just clears the Big Radius pipes on my 08 FXD.

They are very loud, though I have managed to stay sticker free in WA and in SA and VIC when we went in January (touch wood).

Just out of interest, what did you think about the 109R ?

    VVVVVery nice bike.

If it wasnt for the style of the bike that just didnt fit me all that well I might not have solf it to get into a FXDF.

It goes like a rocket and handles great too.  The fat 240mm rear tyre didnt upset the bike on cnrs, and I regularly used all the sidewall on cnrs and she was rock solid.

It had buckets of torque from 1200rpm all the way to 7500revs with no hesitiation and no flat spots.  I dont mind saying it was more bike than I could really use.  Mine was dynoed at 118hp, and 110 f/pound torque.

There some brave guys popping wheelies on these things and doing 100mtr burnouts and they have are pipes and air on it with a PCIII.  They are awsome bikes but they also have some problems; clutch is badly designed and prone to failure, shaft is too weak for the HP, gerbox is clunky and has failed for some, final drive cant handle hard riding.

    http://www.epiflex.com/dyna.html  who makes them,

    or

http://fuelmotousa.com/rush_fuelmoto.htm  who have the whole package.

Jamie at Fuelmoto is a great bloke who will match your PCIII USB to the rush mufflers ( or whatever ) of your choice.

Great service and advice, and the map is all done for you and installed when your PCIII arrives.

Bolt the rush pipes on and fit up your PCIII & then fit big-air and your done.

Fuelmoto will not ship Rush mufflers out side the USA.

i ended up getting some V&H big radius from Robs Cycles instead of the rush. I did get my PCIII from Fuelmoto though and he seemed to be genuin,y helpful so its a shame he wont ship the rush to Oz since he really pushes the rush mufflers as being the ducks nuts.

I got the V&H because I dont like the stock FB pipes so getting slipons was never going to do it for me.

The Big rads cost around $1600 here in Oz I'm told, but I got mine landed on my door for AU$668 brand new in a box incl shipping and currency conversions.

Try this link for rush slipons.  They have them for $219.90 US, with another $200 US shipping. Landed you should get them for less than $500 oz dollars.

    Hey Mate,

I have a Black Pearl Fat Bob on order here on the Sunny Coast in Qld that is due to land in January.

Being a Kawasaki rider for the past 18 years and no mates with Harley's means I'd really appreciate any advice you had on pipes and other bits & pieces you may be able to offer.

Can make green bikes go faster but no idea when it comes to black ones....

Not another Fat Bob on the Sunny Coast, lol, I liked it when there was only 3, mine and the 2 my mates own. Welcome to the Harley extended family

Pipes, air filter and a race tuner or whatever ecu upgrade you decide to install make a difference, this combination also fixes the popping on de acceleration and the running lean/hot problem along with a few other ridability issues. One mate has a 113" kit and the other the 110" kit that the dealer fits, both go like a scalded cat.

I waited 6 months for mine, how long will yours take from order to delivery ?

    happy days.

Still looking around at options for pipes, filters and fuel control etc but like the V&H -2 Big Radius in black.

    Clock's winding down - albeit f*cking slowly..

took the old Z1100 shafty for a run on the weekend - it still goes nicely but time to change..
