I bought a pair of IKON brand fork springs for my FXDX to stop the dive under brakes and generally upgrade the ride.....when I tried to undo the preload caps, they just kept turning and would not come off. I  rang the stealers w/shop and apparently there is a rod fixed down the centre that requires a special tool! Is there any way I can do this at home rather than pay $300 + to get the job done? Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks Scotty...I'll read through the procedure and see what I come up with. Might be a bit tricky to compress the spring!!?
