I am looking at forward controls to put on my 07 superglide on ebay, but a lot are being sold as 2000- 2006
is there any major changes in the frame that won't let them fit, could early models fit the 07 frames mounts
Thanks
peter
If they are anything like the softail, its all about where the rear brake switch sits. I have a 07 softail and had to remove the exhaust valve flapper motor (which was just sitting there disconected anyway) to fit he switch. The stock location of the switch is only about 6 inches behind the master cylinder. The Arlen Ness kit puts the switch behind the gearbox, but supplies all of the required brake line (braided). As for differences in frame mounting points --- no. They are the same so a kit for a 06 will still fit your 07. The kits designated 07 up take into account the flapper motor and position the switch in the stock position. Not really an issue as we all disconect the bloody thing anyway. Hope this helps. Greg
Sorry just re read your question. Going from mid controls to forward controls, not extended forward controls. Havent done or seen it done myself.
Well I have just spent Easter putting on a heap of parts on the superglide including forward controls
Now I have made a mistake buying a geniue HD kit but for 2003-2005, I didn't realise till it turned up
So I decided to have a go at fitting it and see what happens.
The gear shift side isn't a problem, everything fitted include the retaining brakect
The main problem is the brake rod.
It looks like it will fit, if the front exhaust pipe mounting bracket, which is boltted under the cam box and clamps around the front pipe is removed. It has the length and seems to line up.
So my questions are
is this brakect on pre 2005 bikes
Is this brakect on 2007 wideglides with forwards controls, or is it removed to allow it fitting of the forward controls.
if it is left on then the new rod must be bent to clear it, I will have to source a new one from a dealer
Can anyone answer these question on this brakect.
Peter
