Live in Melbourne's NW, been riding around 25 years, on my second Harley. This one's the keeper.
Bought new, 2002 FXD, 95" build, Andrews cams, Mikuni, Crane Hi4, well sorted suspension, black of course. No matter what I ride or test ride, I enjoy this the most. Have yet to find anything I'd replace it with. Owned a T595 for a few years, great bike, but missed the big twin too much. I'd love another Trumpy, but couldn't part with the HD to facilitate.
Back in 02, the brand new bike stayed stock for about...um....6 weeks I think! Stuff the warranty, I needed some more grunt. Very happy with the build. Set up the Mik and Hi4 myself by a lot of trial and error and internet research!! Runs great now, haven't really tinkered with the tune for a few years now. Heads are stock but still dyno's a bee's dick under 90rwhp. Sometimes, I think about doing the heads and a higher lift cam, trying to get a bit more top end out of it etc., but as it is the bike has gobs of useable midrange punch and is great fun to ride - I'd hate to lose that for the sake of a few redline neddies. Hence, for now, I think I'll just leave it alone. I can ride it like I stole it all day long and it never misses a beat - as the old saying goes, if it ain't broke! Also, there's something about the Andrews cams (37b's) that give it a real crackin' note - must be the overlap or something, I don't know, but I just love nailing it.....
Anyway, hope to hang around and contribute in some way here. Might even catch some of you on the road!
