Recently tried to purchase a SE Stg 1 883/1200 conversion kit from the USA. Bad news guys......HD USA does not have any available and the part itself has been made obsolete.  I was able to purchase one through HD Australia who had stock (via the "Stealers) although it probably cost me an additional $300. I think the extra was worth it as the bike is sensational.  So if you were considering going down this path in the near future, I would quickly order yours while stocks last in Oz.

That's interesting. The V-Twin kit will still be available that's what I used for my 883/1200 conversion. It's always available on US ebay.

the screaming eagle conversion would be barrels and heads for a full 1200 motor,,
but you can still order 1200 barrels -1200 pistons -1200 heads etc the screaming eagle kit is only std parts the only screaming eagle part in the whole kit is the air filter...

From what I've read the 883 heads are very good for porting, better than the 1200 stock heads, so an aftermarket kit which contains barrells and pistons (like the VTWin) and additional porting of the 883 heads would probably be a better all round solution than the Screamin Eagle kit.

And again from what I did just doing the barrels and pistons and keeping the 883 heads will still give you a much better motor than a stock 883.

Not sure what's going on with the kit, but Hilly, be warned that if you DO win the lotto and get that Iron, that you will need to get new 1200 cylinders if you want to do a conversion. The 09 883 cylinders won't accept the 3.5" bore. HD have changed the cylinders so the iron sleeve running through the cylinder is now significantly smaller than it has been previously on the rubbermounts, so the word I've heard is that there is no way you can bore them to 1200.

    Hi Trev,

Phone Hoody at Kingaroy and he'll let you know what your options are for an upgrade on an 09.  My understanding is he can still do them... they'll just cost more as they can't bore the existing cylinders. I THINK he orders the parts separately rather than as a kit... not entirely sure. But I highly recommend talking with him first.

    Cheers

I totally agree I was freaked out by the difference when I did the 883/1200 conversion on my Sporty, it's a whole new bike with the conversion done. And with the 883 gearing and rear pulley you get better off the line accelleration than a factory 1200.
