I have decided to leave Tuesday lunch time and stay over night at Gundagai, does anyone know of biker friendly pub/hotel with some where to lock up the bike over night?

I don't know if you can lock bike up or not, but worth a phone call, not sure of name but if you rang the shell they'd give you number or tell you the name of it. It's the motel next to the shell at gundagai does a real good feed and nice rooms, they are truck friendly so biker friendly I would think as well....

Well I’m back, had a great run, little rain on the way out on Tuesday but once I got down to Goulburn all was ok. Got into Gundagai around 1600 booked into the criterion and settled in. Met a few of the locals and sank a few beers. Wednesday and after some advice about all the road work around Holbrook I decided to take off on a small detour that would bring me into Wodonga a different way. I left about 9am and headed southeast to Wondolga then up to the apple growing country of Batlow before stopping for some refreshments in Tumbarumba and then it was into some meandering hills and curves for the next couple of hours passing through Tooma, on to the Murray Valley Highway to Corryong and Tallangatta to Wodonga. From there to Melbourne, arriving at around 5pm was boring as bat shit, there has to be a better way.
Yeah ha, the Socceroos beat Japan 2-1 great game, great atmosphere, the MCG and our boys put on a good show.

Thursday morning I had to wait for the fog to lift and finally got on the road around 1030, I cut straight through the heart of Melbourne via the M1 and picked up the South Gippsland Highway passing through Korumburra, Leongatha, Foster and Yarrum a great ride but from Yarrum to Sale, 75 clicks of boring dead straight road. Sale to Bairnsdale was much better, plenty of big hills and fast curves, the same from Bairnsdale to Lakes Entrance. What can I say from Bairnsdale to Lakes entrance the scenery was spectacular and I wish I had more time to explore, next time? Got lodgings in a little motel on the water front and finished up the evening with a feed of fresh seafood washed down with a few cold beers. Friday morning saw me leave at around 8am for a bloody freezing run up north through Nowa Nowa, Newmerella to Orbost and then onto Cann River for some light refreshments. Once again great scenery large hills and fast curves all the way up to Eden arriving around 11am. It was great sitting and chatting to some locals while drinking hot coffee and eating muffins in the sun down at the wharves. Once rested it was on my merry way up through Pambula then Merimbula, Tathra, Bermagui, Narooma, Moruya and into Batemans Bay before cruising up to Ulladulla and onto Sanctuary Point arriving at 5pm. What a day and once again some great scenery and some fantastic country. Today would have topped it all but after spending the morning over breakfast with friends in the sun, I had to finally hit some rain, lots of rain, the very cold and wet variety from Berry all the way home to Sydney but I'm home and all the more better for it. It was a reasonably quick trip but its one I would do again in a heart beat and the next time I will try and spend some more time taking in those great places that I blew past on my long but short journey.
