Hi all. As i said in another post.I will soon be looking for my first harley.I have narrowed it down to three models. Softail standard, custom or nightrain. What other differences are there apart from the obviose paint and crome changes.I dont really like the plain grey engine finish on the standard but as far as the amount of chrome goes im not sure what i prefer.I actually think a nightrain with billet chromed rims, nice exhaust, bars and maybe just a little chrome would look good. But is that stupid to go put chrome on a nightrain ?Anyway what are your thoughts on the pro's and cons of the different models.

AS LONG IT COMES WITH A CARBY AND NOT THESE FAGGY E.F.I. MOTORS THAT H.D. ARE BRINGING OUT .CAN'T DO SHIT TO THEM WITHOUT SPENDING A FORTUNE

The only difference in the bikes (long as they are the same year) is the colour of the cases and weather they are chrome or black. (also EFI or Carb)
I personally like the Black engine with Chrome covers.
I chose the 07 FXSTC over the 07 FXST because of the engine colour as well as the front rim and rear wheel and already had the sissy bar.
I just could not live with the grey colour on the motor. All my Harley's have had the Black motor.
I owned a Night train when they first came out and really liked the blacked out look.
Just depends how much chrome U want, and what the finished product looks like in your minds eye.
I figured to have the motor blacked out and put chrome on was going to cost more $/effort than just buying what I see as the basic pack and changing the bits I wanted to.

Fuel injected bikes can be more expensive to get set up to start with but I would not go back to a carb any time soon again.
EFI hit the button ride away. I don't need to fidle with starting etc any more. i use to have a 78 Silver SS DESMO Ducati with 2 40mm delortos. Fiddled with it all the time sounded good but like the injection now.

    Just a few thoughts.
Go have a look at some new bikes and try and see the black and grey motors togeather and see which one U like best. If U buy for the long term U will be able to change bits as U go if you are happy with what U start with.

Enjoy Your First harley is always Great,
Your second is just as good
Your third is just as good
and so on and so on.

    Have Fun.

So about the same price as a PCIII for an Faggy EFI + Dyno time to jet the thing, which would bring it close to the cost of a T/Max!!!!

I know what I would prefer to have. I love faggy EFI Engines....... now that I'm moving into the 21st century and starting to see the tuning benifits of them.

We all remember the Faggy evolution engine..... dont we. Just got to move with the times.
