ran a tank of 98 octane in the bike this morning (was acool morning as well so that may have helped as well)was surprized at how well it ran .sat in 100/110 no worries n was a brezze to pull up long hills in 5 gear. has any one eles ran with the 98 in there bike n noticed muchof a differance? i was raped with it but the price of it is a bit steep $1.62 per/l i sopose thats one of the joys of livng in the sticks

    Jim,

I've only ever used premium in my Sporty, I believe it's 95 Octane. What do you normally use, ie is the difference you're talking about between regular unleaded and 98 octane?

    Gday king chops
i have all ways ran premium 95 in my bike since i picked it up thats what i was told to run in. thought it would be good for a change to run 98 its only 3 octanes higher but there is a big differance i can feel more so accelerrating n pulling up hills n traveling at 100 seems to be a lot easier to hold it on 100. im sold the next tank will be 98 premium. im putting a set of pipes on it some time this week im sure there will be even more differance there as well

yeah 98 octane is the way to go cost bit more but you also gain a extra few ks per tank so well worth it

Been using 98 octane in the 883 since new. Have mate with same bike and he uses 95. I know its not much difference, but he swears my bike runs better than his & I have not had any probs. Gets up & goes even in top.

    I'm not a spear-chucker, Weasel ;)

Beats me how that post doubled-up. I have no way of deleting it (as I normally would per forum etiquette).

Have just started to use 98 in my '04 883C - huge difference from standard and 95. Heaps more torque and better mileage. It costs but, lets face it, a 17 litre tank x an extra maybe 20c a litre = $3.40 - big deal. Wouldn't do it in my commodore though.

Have updated bike to 1200 from 883 ...still using 98 octone...great, if not a tad scary. (1200 barrels, pistons, Bluell heads with SE air filter kit & SE slipons)....kept 883 gearing.

    ride safe
