Well I have had the TTS for about 3 weeks now. I am a new to riding motorcyles, but wanted one for a long time, and I have enough mechanical experince to take stuff apart... I am really getting into messing with my bike though and since my first service at HD left my ass sore, I have done all the rest of the work on my bike my self. I do have an IT background but that didn't help me much with the TTS, if you can use excel you can use this program, the real 'secret' is to understand what some of the table do and how you can tweak them to make you bike run better.
So to start I got my TTS from Doc, he came recommended from a few other guys I asked and he was real easy to work with. I did take the time to read thru the TTS manual and Docs tuning guide as well as read some of the posts in various forums. I recommend when reading these posts for info/ideas you take the time to find out about the person posting them. Lots of good info out their but an equal amount of misinformation, and if your new to TTS its hard to figure out which is which. I have a few trusted sources for good info, this site has several of them.
Not inlculding the reading I did ahead of time Set up for the Tune took me about 30 minutes mainly changing the required settings in the computer and as this was the first time as I was reading instruction step by step. The data run took about 20 minutes. I generated a tune in about 20 minutes and the upload to the bike takes about 5 minutes. I did this three times as my pipes are 2:1's and my map was for short drag pips, so I figure the VE's are out enough to warrent 3 tuneing runs. I'd say the whole show took about 3 hours to do before I had a great running bike.
More Advanced:
I have theorized my self a set of CLB values based on a lot of the info posted around and on the TTS manual and then made a few more V-Tune runs to recalibrate my VE's, I am working on tuning out some decel popping that I have heard no more than 2 times in the amost 900 miles I have ridden since I used the TTS. They occur in a very speific circumstance, Low speed, downhill Decel. RPM's probably in the 1500 range. I am taking marginal measures to correct it by increasing AFR in that range, MAP 20 & RMP 200 and less, by 1 point, I will ride this for a while and make further adjustments if nessesary.
Once I have the AFR's configured to my likeing I will move on to timing.
I would recommend this product to anyone who want to tune their own bikes, I am not a tuner and have not used any other product, but this one was easy enought to use for a beginner with only a limited understanding of EFI. If you want a good tune you can take the time to learn it and utilize the tools it provides to make a great tune, or load your base map, calibrate the bike and ride!
