G'day forumers,  Another question regarding upping performance on my 883. Ive got my SE 2 pipes. Im thinking about SE aircleaner. opinions are divided on the mikuni. So what about ignition module, would this be a better way to go than the carby? How does ignition improve performance?whats around for an 06 883? SE dont do one for this model. It seems everyone has their own ideas on the best way to go, I guess I need to sift through all the info and see what works for me.Anyway thanks for the input. Steve

Go into as many bike shops as possible and ask them the same question. You'll get a lot of recipe's for your inquiries, but you should get a good idea which way to go. Write a letter to Doc of Heavy Duty magazine (Australian mag!) and ask him as well. Buy the mag every issue, it's a top mag for Harley riders. No puking/tits/partying/clubby stuff, just good mechanical/ techie info. You should get the right unbiased advice from Doc. Good luck Steve.

I got hold of a SERT (Screaming Eagle Race Tuner) from the states.

This has a dongle that marries itself to your ICM and allows you to change your ignition curves.

Have had a play with it and like how you can alter the curve.

Just have to figure out the best curve, work in progress.

Go 1200 if you want a HSR42 on it, way to big for 883.

Isnt SERT for fuel injected bikes? My 06 is the last of the carby model. I've heard screaming eagle didnt produce a ignition module between 04 and 07. Steve

    I got the carby version 04-06 (32124-04).

There is a fuel injected version 07 up.

Just make sure you get a new un married dongle.

If it has burnt onto a ICM it will only work on that one.

Philthy, is (32124-04 ) the part number?Whats a new unmarried dongle?Whats a ICM?How much did you pay?How does a ignition module improve performance? Frasers of Newcastle couldnt find a SE ignition module between 04 &06 in their parts catalogue.Do you think a ignition module is a worthwhile investment?sorry for all the questions.Steve

The Stock Ign is good enuf. All you need is to Re Jet the CV buy a good Exhaust and Air Cleaner, If you want to rev the Engine up Buy a SE 7000 Module........ Thats it...............
Iv'e got a 06 1200c with those mods only.... it makes just over 95 HP. For get anything else.

You Dont need Cams, You Dont Need a Race Tuner, You dont need a Mikuni, You just need to go down to your nearest Dealer hand over the $250.00 or so Dollars a for SE Module, Take it home Plug it in, Read the Instructions To Re-Map the Bike. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, If you want more power , Forget it, You only have a 883 .
If you haven't got Pipes or a better Air Cleaner, Dont Waste your time,
