Bore it out to 1200 would be the way to go.
Cheapest horsepower mod after the stage 1 mod on the 883 is to bore it out to 1200.

mikuni is to big for a 883

I wud go with walkas comment untill you punch out to 1200 the mikuni stays on the shelf an then they have to have a breathing recipe air + fuel/combustion an then get rid of it u dig??? rats

Well I just picked up my 883 low .I already had SE 2 exhausts on,I got a full service, SE aircleaner,SE ignition module and I did go down the mikuni road as well " ffaarkkk"!!!!! what a ride, I cant stop smiling. Oh and I put a set of black flat tracker bars on.Cant wait till morning Im going riding.Thanks Bubs customs.What a different 883 this is now.Right whats next, Ive been bitten. Steve

Patience is the secret, if you can wait till everyone has spent the dollars and blown up the motors, then you will find the best bang for buck, the results for shovels are just coming in, so you may have to wait  while, me i waited 16+ yrs.

I will post some photos soon, and yep Danny and Scott were both awsome, they had plenty of time while i asked all those questions as i  sifted through the mountain of info out there. Those guys were right on the money with the mikuni and how good it'd be. I know where ill be taking my bike from now on.Steve
