bought an 07 wideglide , new from cairns dealership , towed back to dealership 10 times in 3 months due to water getting into electrics, eventually told them if the problem wasnt fixed i would ride it through showroom window and leave it there , slightly pissed by this stage !!!

Their  answer to this problem was  DONT GET IT WET,  DONT WASH IT ,DONT RIDE IN THE RAIN ,  seeing as i live in fnq it appears i have bought a bike i can only ride a couple of days a week  !!  i eventually fixed problem , removed alarm siren  (full of water shorting out eveything)

Also siezed back brake caliper , warranty issue , took them three months to fix this problem,(couldnt source parts had to come from the states) again slightly pissed by this stage. Only after i rang HD in sydney was the problem fixed in a little under 2 days.

Never had a belt drive bike before , could hear definite whirring fom arse end, went to dealership and they test rode told me i was hearing things. Noise continued took it back and there head mechanic told me THE NOISE I COULD HEAR WAS THE WIND BLOWING THROUGH THE HOLES IN THE BRAKE ROTOR) I realy knew i was in trouble after that statement. Anyway i  backed of the belt a fraction and amazingly the wind in the rotor noise  went away.

Front end got a definite shudder coming through the footpegs , back to dealership, taken for test ride , told i am imagining things yet again , 250 ks from home a week later front engine mount shits itself , another tow job back to dealership , and a week to get new mount

Bought aftermarket speedo for a 94 fxd , Dealership ordered the wrong one,got it home and wouldnt fit, took it back and they refused to take it back because i didnt have the box it arrived in, Which i had left at dealership when i picked it up (easier to carry on bike)

Anyway i have since found another shop to spend all my dollars in a shop that values its customers , i guess me  spending nearly 40 grand in their dealership didnt mean shit to them great way to run a bussiness

My local dealer sux too, when I bought my first harley I went into dealer, said I was looking for a custom softail under $20,000, he said don't have one turned his back and walked away. So I never went back to that dealer. went to dealer number 2 and they helped me, I got my softail. Problem is now that dealer moved 300k's away. So when I bought my current wideglide I drove 700k's to avoid my local dealer.
So to my local dealer you'll only get small desperate sales from me, I'll shop at interstate dealers and pay postage costs...

The dealers I have dealt with seem to do really well if U have a request that is in the box, start talking about 'can I do that with this' or out of the box questions and they R fucked.
They sell the best bike in the world and the most modified bike and when it comes to after sales 'support' (WTF is that) they bomb out in a big way.
Keeping the finger on the pulse out of the box would give them a package deal, but thank fuck for the aftermarket blokes and the FORUMS like this one, and the support from other fellow riders.

Damn shame they drop the ball after U pick the beast up.

well our shop Quick fix Mildura has just undergone a major restaff we have all new mechanics wich I am one of and part of our service is the guy who worked on the bike gives it back to you that way you get to talk directly to the guy who worked on it, somtimes we dont get alot of time to talk if things are busy but we try our best ,if we find somthing else wrong with the bike we will ring you and let you know!and the bike is carfully washed before you get it back, Gavs shop has always had a high reputation and he is working very hard to make it even better!and was also one of the best preformance shops in th country, he lives and breaths bike you name hes done it over 20yrs in the bizz he knows his shit! I think the key to his sucsess is he treats us like sons, we need help he gives it, he pays us well, we go out riding on weekends, have a few drinks after work, give each other cheek, we all get along and it all makes for good business, we do business in every state and there is what we call an "away customer" for the guy whos passin through and needs to get back on the road quick, shit most of us hang around just for fun on the weekeds

Sounds like the place I work and I alost feel bad taking the pay check ( I said almost) There is nothing better than enjoying what you do and getting paid for it. That is why the bike U make next will kick arse, cause U have no pressure an enjoy doing what U do.

    Good luck and enjoy.

Dont use customs too expensive among other things  , Prong is tops went to him all the time with the shovel , Do all my own services and maintenenance , Still under warranty (just) so i am still drilling leanards . They hate me , watch them all dissapearing out the back when i pull up. Since ive had the bike ive had , new front wheel , new rear brake caliper and rotor , new engine mounts , numerous problems with water in electrics, which i might add they have continually failed to rectify , i seem to be on top of most of it now though , love the bike now , was ready to burn it a while back Are you from cirns tapey you know the people up here ?

Okay its been a while since I have posted anything, so I will keep it short .
I am a bit overdue but looking at purchasing another bike, I don’t get into a dealership that often due to travel distance to dealers.
From your experience I am looking for recommendations on a dealer that has attention to detail with reliable after sales service.
Not asking for much just purchase a bike and get the after sales service we deserve.

Preferred locations would be Melbourne, Canberra or within these areas.

Get a list of dealers. Can’t be that many. Then do a google search. Most times, the search will come up with reviews as well. It’s a start. Once the field is narrowed, make some calls.

i have to say that perth harley davidson have been great so far ..2 bikes in one year an you would kind of expect it to be fair.. tony the head sales guy has been great ./ also so has chelsea in the clothing etc .. ive had a couple of issues with service on the newest bike but they have dealt with it, ive also had a chat with service about pricing and they have been pretty good on that also .. i did have a whinge about the amount of k,s they put on my bike but since been informed that it was necassary in order to be sure it was sorted so all good there too.
i took my other bike to the new shop in midland ( nice shop ) .. had it serviced and was qouted a price .. upon collecting bike they charged me a bit more than they said which narked me a bit as i had already had a discussion about the service price comparrison.. then as i rode away i noticed the clock was not reset ( flashing) ..trivial as it was it still narked me a bit.  he knew i had a new ultra and was kind of pushing me to get its first service done there.. when i said i would prefer to take it back to phd for its very first one he seemed like he got the shits a bit >> said whatever and just walked away .. hmmmmm

Sydney was an option but traffic is the killer there.

Prefer to utilize a Dealer between Canberra and Melbourne, I do have a few in mind but looking for suggestions.
